Gifts from my husband's business trip 2!

This is the second fabric DH brought home. It too is a gorgeous taffeta in a deep crimson (with the nice black highlight) and is a fine crinkle texture. This one is definitely destined for a blouse. Won't it look stunning with true black for Christmas!
The third fabric he brought was a solid black light weight satin back crepe. Not sure what I might use it for yet...

Gifts from my husband's business trip 1!!

This is one of the three fabrics my DH brought me home from a recent business trip. The first time he's ever brought me fabric...his mother was some impressed that he bought me a gift, and one that I would love too!
This is a beautiful cognac taffeta with a black flocked flower design. Probably destined to be a blouse or possibly a jacket to go with a length of cognac wool I have for a skirt. I'll let you know when I decide!

Who is Dorcus?

You can find the story of Dorcus in Acts 9:36-43

To her friends she was also known as Tabitha, to some she was just another good seamstress. She was someone who could skillfully weave thread into a useful or even beautiful cover for the human body. A talent that undoubtedly put her in contact with many influential people.

She was a first century Christian who made her living by sewing. She served the Lord well, and when she died, Jesus, at work through Peter, brought her back to life. Therefore, Dorcus is more than an historical figure. She is a symbol of new life.

All who pull needle and thread creating something beautiful from cloth are Dorcus.

I, am just one of many.

And this is my story.
